Submission Guidelines

Submission Policies

Critical (Academic) Papers

The ECCCS is open to young scholars from all fields and disciplines. We strongly
encourage, indeed expect, some or all submissions to fall outside of or overlap our
general categories. All submissions must, however, directly address relevant questions
in the larger field of contemporary cultural studies. The ECCCS claims no rights on
submitted material. If no specific Creative Commons license is chosen by the author,
the ECCCS assumes standard rights reserved copyright for the submission. For more
information on Creative Commons, please check out creativecommons.org.

The ECCCS asks that all submitters include a separate 2 page CV. Please include as
either a separate document or within the body of the email your name, address,
institutional affiliation or academic history. Submitters may also include an optional
biography, not to exceed 50 words, to be included in the submission should it be
accepted.

Additionally, submissions

- must not exceed 9000 words.

- must be formatted with 1” margins, double spaced with a 12 pt. font.

- must be submitted as either a .pdf or .doc (not .docx) file.

- must follow MLA style guidelines for citations.

Commentary/Essays

In addition to providing an alternative outlet for the critical work produced by
young academics, the ECCCS acknowledges the potential (indeed, the necessity) of more
accessible, less academic work to illuminate and explicate issues in contemporary
culture. To this end the ECCCS asks that commentary submissions be written in clear,
accessible (editorial) prose, with the goal of providing interested readers new
material or a new perspective on particular topics.

Submitters should include as either a separate document or in the body of the email
their public contact info and a 50 word biography.

Additionally, submissions

- should fall between 1,000 and 3,000 words.

- must be formatted as plain text (.txt) with any necessary HTML code included.
